Car Salesperson Job Description

Car Salesperson Key Responsibilities

  • Over 5 years experience working in the auto importation niche or a certificate, diploma or degree in sales or related fields.
  • Communicate and build rapport over the phone, email, and online
  • Maintain a database of customers that you’re communicating with and progress made
  • Proactively learn the characteristics and capabilities of all cars to ensure you can provide detailed information and comparisons between competitive models
  • Be able to quickly understand the car importation process including the pricing procedure
  • Maintain current knowledge of the market we serve, the motor vehicle industry, and competitor strategies
  • Help customers identify the vehicle that meets their needs, interests, and budget.
  • Assist the customer with all the relevant paperwork, and update them on the importation progress until the vehicle is handed over to them
  • Possess solid negotiation skills to close a sales transaction to meet or exceed sales targets
  • Follow up with customers after the sale is complete to check on satisfaction and ask for referrals
  • Maintain proper reporting structures to be shared with the sales manager

Car Salesperson Requirements

The ideal candidate should have
  • Professional appearance and positive attitude
  • Pleasant demeanor, a great personality, and a passion for sales
  • Honesty and integrity
  • At least 2 years of sales experience (in any industry) is preferred
  • A degree or diploma in sales and marketing is advantageous
  • Computer knowledge and internet skills
  • Excellent customer service, communication, negotiation, organisational, and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to develop and maintain customer relationships
  • The ability to recognize buying signals and be competitive while keeping the client’s interests at heart.
  • The ability to achieve sales goals under limited direct supervision
